The Lake District’s truly ‘awesome’ scenery makes the region one of our most popular holiday destinations and one to which people return year after year. Unique in England, the area has a character and charm which has attracted visitors for many years and inspired poets, artists and writers for centuries.

This year we are returning to the charming town of Grange over Sands which is a delight to explore. With a long level promenade, public parks, interesting independent shops, superb views over Morecombe Bay and being only 6 miles from Lake Windermere, it’s a great destination for a tour of the Lake District.

For this years holiday we have tweaked the itinerary and added a few extras which we think will enhance the enjoyment of your holiday with us. Included in your holiday price - Entrance to the superb Holker Hall, a lake cruise on Windermere and a full day touring with our knowledgeable local guide!

DAY 1
After being collected from your local pick up point around 6.30/7.45am, sit back and relax on board your luxury coach and enjoy the views on the way to Cumbria. Planned comfort stops on route including a main stop for lunch before arriving in Cumbria early evening. Settle in to the hotel before dinner - 3 courses with choice of menu.

DAY 2

A great start in the stunning Lake District including a scenic cruise on beautiful Lake Windermere. Boarding at the bustling lakeside town of Bowness-on-Windermere, relax as you glide across England’s largest lake, passing wooded shores, elegant lakeside homes and charming islands that dot the water. The cruise offers wonderful views of the surrounding fells and a peaceful way to experience the beauty of the Lake District.

After the boat trip, there will be free time in Bowness to enjoy the bustling atmosphere of the town. Browse the independent shops, enjoy a stroll along the waterfront or relax in one of the many cafés and restaurants overlooking the lake.

After lunch we continue to the historic market town of Kendal, often known as the “Gateway to the Lakes”, where you can wander the charming streets, discover local shops and soak up the atmosphere before returning to Grange-over-Sands. Boat Trip Fare included in the holiday price.

DAY 3
A more relaxing day today with free time to enjoy the surroundings of the hotel before we depart late morning on todays excursion. 

Only a very short drive away near the village of Cartmel, we visit Holker Hall & Gardens which is one of Cumbria’s most charming historic estates. This magnificent stately home, set within rolling parkland and woodland, has been the home of the Cavendish family for generations and is renowned for its welcoming atmosphere and rich history. Visitors can explore the elegant rooms of the Hall, where impressive architecture, fine furnishings and fascinating family stories bring the house to life. Outside, the award-winning gardens are a highlight, featuring beautifully planted borders, tranquil woodland walks, and the spectacular formal gardens designed to provide colour throughout the seasons. With sweeping views across the surrounding countryside, a delightful café serving homemade refreshments, and a well-stocked gift shop, Holker Hall provides a relaxing and memorable visit in one of the most picturesque corners of Cumbria. 3 hour visit here before returning to the hotel for more time at leisure. Entrance fee included.

DAY 4
Enjoy a full breakfast at the hotel before we head off for todays exciting excursion.
This is an area where it is a huge benefit to have the experience and knowledge of a local guide so today we are joined by our excellent one! Always such a popular day with the guide enhancing the day pointing out some of the main highlights of the area, and a few ones you may not have heard of! Learn about the areas history, geology and explore the lives of some of the famous people forever linked with the Lakes.

DAY 5
Sadly we have to leave the hills behind and head home. Comfort stops including a main stop for lunch before arriving back in the local area around 6.00pm.

Set in 20 acres of grounds on the edge of Grange-over-Sands this traditional hotel has beautiful views over Morecombe Bay. This impressive building, built in 1880 is only six miles from Lake Windermere and in recent years has undergone a sustained programme of refurbishment. 

Relax and unwind in the Jacobean Bar, with inviting sofas and a roaring open fire or if you fancy somewhere quieter there are several lounge areas off the main bar area. Soak up the views out to the gardens and the bay with a drink or a bite to eat. Breakfast and dinner will be served in the Hazelwood Restaurant which serves traditional cuisine using local ingredients. The spacious bedrooms are en-suite with shower over bath - shower cubicles available on request - please check if required.  Facilities include TV, hairdryers and tea-coffee making facilities. Some ground floor rooms available on request. Many rooms have panoramic sea views over Morecambe Bay and beyond to the Yorkshire Dales. Free Wi-Fi in public areas. Lift to all bedrooms.
