Following a £41 million revamp, the National Portrait Gallery, located just off of Trafalgar Square has reopened for visitors. Come and explore the largest collection of portraits in the world, spanning an an incredible six centuries -  taking visitors on a journey from the Middle Ages to the present day. Free general admission to the Gallery but donations are welcome. If you want to see a special exhibition there is normally a charge. Please check their website for details. Arranged in date order, the Tudor collection is on the third floor with the gallery’s oldest portrait of King Henry VII which dates back to 1505. The second floor has portraits from the 19th and 20th century and on the ground floor there are contemporary images of well-known faces to explore, from Wimbledon champion Andy Murray to singer Ed Sheeran. 

For lunch, the gallery has a number of options - from the cafe on the ground floor to The Portrait Restaurant.

If you do not want to visit the Gallery - no problem! It’s an exciting part of London with a wealth of restaurants, cafes and attractions to enjoy.
