Surrounded by Belgium, France and Germany, the picturesque Grand Duchy of Luxembourg is one of Europe’s most picturesque countries. This ever popular holiday is based in the beautiful Luxembourg Ardennes, surrounded by wooded valleys, rivers and vineyards. Luxembourg offers a blend of historic charm, modern architecture, and lush landscapes. Known for its rich history, medieval fortresses, vibrant cityscapes, and rolling countryside, Luxembourg is ideal for travelers seeking a unique European experience. 

We return to the excellent Hotel Belle Vue in the historic medieval town of Vianden, a lovely town to explore on foot and overlooked by a magnificent Castle - one of the largest fortified castles west of the River Rhine. With a remarkable history, Luxembourg has now become a financial powerhouse and offers the visitor much to explore. During our stay we visit the sophisticated Capital, with its mix of skyscrapers and beautiful historic centre with fortifications and pop over the border to visit one of Germany’s oldest cities, Trier.

DAY 1
After being collected from your local pick up point (5.45/6.45am approx.) sit back and relax as we travel to Kent for the channel crossing to France. Eurotunnel/Ferry - to be confirmed - and arrive in France early afternoon. We continue through France & Belgium with comfort stops as required before arriving in Luxembourg early evening. After a long journey relax in the comfort of the hotel. For dinner tonight we have a set menu in the restaurant. 


DAY 2
Free day today to enjoy our lovely host town. Vianden is one of the most picturesque towns in the country, so explore the medieval streets and head for the fairytale castle by chair lift for spectacular scenery. Find somewhere nice for lunch and enjoy relaxing in the hotel.

 

DAY 3
Great excursion today as we head to one of our most popular European destinations. Discover the charm of Trier, Germany’s oldest city, on a fascinating day trip combining history, culture, and leisure. Your visit begins with a one-hour guided walking tour, introducing you to the city’s remarkable Roman and medieval landmarks. Admire the impressive Porta Nigra, the best-preserved Roman city gate north of the Alps, and stroll through the Cathedral of St. Peter and Church of Our Lady, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Your guide will bring the city’s 2,000-year history to life, sharing stories of emperors, traders, and bishops who shaped Trier into a jewel of the Moselle region.

After the tour, enjoy free time to explore at your own pace. You might browse the elegant shops around the Hauptmarkt, relax at a café with a slice of traditional German cake, or visit the Roman Baths or Amphitheatre for a deeper look into the city’s ancient past. Alternatively, take a stroll along the scenic Moselle River, lined with charming views and leafy promenades.

DAY 4 
Discover the charm and elegance of Luxembourg City on a delightful day trip combining a guided walking tour with leisurely free time to explore at your own pace. This fascinating capital blends medieval history with cosmopolitan flair, offering visitors a truly unique experience.

Your visit begins with a guided walking tour through the city’s enchanting old quarter, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Stroll along cobbled streets lined with grand buildings and picturesque squares, while your guide reveals stories of Luxembourg’s rich past and strategic importance. Admire the breathtaking views from the Chemin de la Corniche, often called “Europe’s most beautiful balcony,” and see highlights such as the Grand Ducal Palace, the Notre-Dame Cathedral, and the impressive Bock Casemates.

After the tour, enjoy free time to soak up the city’s relaxed atmosphere. Perhaps browse the elegant boutiques, visit one of the excellent museums, or unwind at a café in the Place d’Armes. DAY 5
Mid morning we head north for the short journey to the town of Clervaux - lovely to explore with a Castle full of history and  the excellent Battle of the Bulge Museum, a magnificent Abbey overlooking the town and historic streets and houses.


DAY 6
After an early breakfast we board the coach for the journey home. Comfort stops including a main stop for lunch before boarding the mid/late afternoon Channel crossing to Kent by Eurotunnel/Ferry - to be confirmed.  Arriving back in the local area around 7.00/8.00pm.

Hotel Belle Vue

This modern 3 star hotel is situated in the centre of the charming town of Vianden and enjoys views of the castle from many of the rooms and the terrace. Vianden is a lovely town to visit with some shops, plenty of places to stop and enjoy a drink and a picturesque riverside promenade. The staff service is great - friendly, welcoming and English speaking. 

The extensive self serve buffet breakfast is taken in the brightly lit breakfast room and in the evening there is a 3 course evening meal. 

For 2026 we have upgraded to a choice of main course - from the 2nd night. Starters and Desserts are set menu for the duration of your stay. The food has been well received by our customers on previous stays. Facilities in the hotel include a heated indoor swimming pool, a welcoming bar and a large sun terrace where you can enjoy a drink, unwind and discuss the day. The comfortable bedrooms all have en-suite bathroom with shower over bath, Flat screen TV and Free Wi-Fi.
