The traditional harbour and stylish Princess Pier marina area offer the town a continental atmosphere, with a growing selection of eateries to sample. Stroll along the attractive waterfront esplanade to the new Abbey Sands leisure development and enjoy a drink overlooking Torbay. We are delighted to be staying at the 3* Headland Hotel which has been rated so highly on our holiday questionnaires.

DAY 1
Departing your local pick-up point in the morning (approx. 8.30/10.00am), we travel to Torquay stopping for lunch in Bridport/West Bay or Otter Nurseries before arriving at the hotel mid afternoon with time to relax in the hotel before dinner - 3 courses with choice of menu. During our stay at the hotel there will be some evening entertainment.
DAY 2
Memorable day today and one of the highlights of this short break as we head to Dartmouth. From the quayside we board one of the river cruise boats - usually the historic paddle steamer Kingswear Castle, for a lovely cruise along the River Dart. Its a circular cruise from Dartmouth sailing the lower part of the river, viewing the castles at the estuary, Britannia Royal Naval College and towards Agatha Christie's Greenway Estate. Price included in your holiday - a lovely addition to your day out. Full commentary is provided. Followed by free time to explore this wonderfully historic town.
DAY 3
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast with the rest of the day at free. Relax and enjoy the atmosphere and grounds of the hotel or maybe take a stroll along the clifftop or down in to town.
DAY 4
Excursion to Buckland Abbey. A wonderful National Trust property, Buckland has 700 years of history but is perhaps most famously linked with one of England’s most famous seafarers, Sir Francis Drake. The Abbey is part museum, part house, and filled with treasures such as the legendary Drake’s Drum. Surrounded by meadows, orchards, woodlands and lovely gardens. National Trust member discount - £15. Returning for free time at the hotel.
DAY 5
We head home with a lunch stop on the way. Arriving back in the local area around 3.30/4.30pm.
Meal Plan – Dinner, Bed & Breakfast.

We have been taking groups to this hotel for many, many years and have always found the quality of decor, accommodation and food to be of a very good standard - it has become a firm favourite with Highcliffe Coach Holiday customers. And the standard and facilities keep improving with additions in recent years including a spa complex and wonderful outside decking area. All the public areas around the hotel are tastefully decorated with a complimentary chic modern style.
Professionally managed and with a great staff, the hotel has been awarded a Travellers' Choice 2024 Award - meaning they consistently earn great reviews from travellers and are ranked within the top 10% of properties on Tripadvisor for enjoyment and value for money.
Boasting splendid sea views from many of the bedrooms and some of the public areas, the hotel stands in two acres of grounds overlooking Meadfoot Bay – you can follow the footpath down to the bay or into Torquay. It’s quite steep in sections though!
Relax with a coffee in the elegant reception foyer area or head to the Gallery Lounge and Terrace - perfect place to enjoy the view, grab a drink, snack, or light lunch. If the sun is shining, why not sit out on the sea view terrace and enjoy the picturesque setting. Evening entertainment is on every night at the hotel, except Wednesday!
All bedrooms are well appointed and have en-suite bathroom – some with shower over bath, some shower only – please confirm when booking if required - TV, WiFi, Tea/coffee making and hairdryer.
Enjoy dining in the superb Romanoff Restaurant which offers a full hot & continental breakfast – self serve. In the evening, choose from a classic menu – 3 courses with a choice of menu served at the table. Set dining time for group. Passenger lift to most rooms – some corridors have a couple of split level steps. Porterage included.
