This county town in Surrey has a vibrant historic centre retaining its traditional cobbled high street and riverside walks along the River Wey. The town has superb shopping with three covered shopping centres offering some of the best shopping in the county. There is also a wide choice of cafes, restaurants and bars. Plenty of history to explore around the town with some lovely public gardens. Guildford has a history and heritage which dates back to Saxon times when it was known as Golden (guilden) Ford. The ruins of Guildford’s Norman castle form a beautiful backdrop to the award-winning castle grounds and the intact Medieval Great Tower offers panoramic views of the whole town from the top.
