FANTASTIC NEW ITINERARY FOR 2024 WITH SOME GREAT DESTINATIONS - MAKING THE MOST OF YOUR TIME IN THE LAKES!

The Lake District’s truly ‘awesome’ scenery makes the region one of our most popular holiday destinations and one to which people return year after year. Unique in England, the area has a character and charm which has attracted visitors for many years and inspired poets, artists and writers for centuries.

This year we are returning to the charming town of Grange over Sands which is a delight to explore. With a long level promenade, public parks, interesting independent shops, superb views over Morecombe Bay and being only 6 miles from Lake Windermere, it’s a great destination for a tour of the Lake District.

For this years holiday we have tweaked the itinerary and added a few extras which we think will enhance the enjoyment of your holiday with us. Included in your holiday price - 1 hour lake cruise on Ullswater, a full day touring with a knowledgeable local tour guide, a heritage railway trip and a truly wonderful historic home and garden.

DUE TO THE GEOLOGY OF THIS AREA AND ROAD RESTRICTIONS SOME WALKING WILL BE REQUIRED ON THIS HOLIDAY

DAY 1
After being collected from your local pick up point around 6.30/7.45am, sit back and relax with planned comfort stops including a main stop for lunch before arriving in Cumbria early evening.

DAY 2
Memorable day out today as we are joined by our excellent local guide. Always a popular day covering the highlights of the region with a fascinating commentary on the local history, geology and famous people linked with the Lakes.

Enjoy a full breakfast at the hotel before we head off for todays exciting excursion. We head in to the beautiful Lakeland scenery with some beautiful views on the way to our first destination, the wonderful Ullswater lake. Here we board one of Ullswater Steamers heritage boats for an hour cruise along the length of the lake. Sit back and enjoy those views - a lovely way to experience the unique beauty of this area.

DAY 3
Another wonderful day today. Heading first for the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway, travelling back in time on this excellent heritage train line with traditional 1950’s carriages through the countryside scenery of the Leven Valley. On to a favourite destination with our customers - Levens Hall. This magnificent Elizabethan mansion has been home to the Bagots for over 400 years and contains a marvellous collection of Jacobean furniture and fine paintings with stewards on hand to enhance your visit. The world-famous gardens were laid out in 1694 and contain the oldest topiary in the world! A remarkable sight and  a lovely way to finish your holiday in the Lakes. Returning to the hotel for free time before dinner.

Railway trip and entrance to Levens Hall included.

DAY 4
From here, we head on to the award-winning Dove Cottage at Grasmere. William Wordsworth lived here from 1799 to 1808, and wrote many of his greatest poems which brought this areas beauty to life and made it such a draw for visitors. His poems, journals and letters have been recreated in the excellent museum here, telling the story of his life in the area. Explore the humble cottage and enjoy the gardens that inspired him. There is also a lovely cafe on site.

Lake cruise & entrance to Wordsworth's Dove Cottage included in the holiday price.

DAY 5
We head home with comfort stops as required. Arriving back in the local area around 6.00pm.
