Come along and join our break to one of Britain’s favourite holiday destinations - on the English Riviera.

Blessed with a balmy climate and famous for it's palm trees, it's easy to see why Torquay has attracted visitors since Victorian times. There is stunning scenery along the coast road and historic towns are dotted throughout the region. The traditional harbour and stylish Princess Pier marina area offer the town a continental atmosphere, with a growing selection of eateries to sample. Stroll along the attractive waterfront esplanade to the new Abbey Sands leisure development and enjoy a drink overlooking Torbay. We are delighted to be staying at the 3* Headland Hotel which has been rated so highly on our holiday questionnaires.

This hotel has been awarded a Travellers' Choice 2023 Award - meaning they consistently earn great reviews from travellers and are ranked within the top 10% of properties on Tripadvisor for enjoyment and value for money.

DAY 1
Departing your local pick-up point in the morning (approx. 8.00/9.30am), we travel to Torquay stopping for lunch in Bridport/West Bay or Otter Nurseries before arriving at the hotel mid afternoon with time to relax in the hotel before dinner followed by entertainment. Lovely food served at the Headland - good choice of menu during your stay.

DAY 2
Enjoy an extensive choice of breakfast in the hotel before we head off for one of the highlights of your holiday. Travelling to Paignton, just along the coast, where we board the Dartmouth Steam Railway for a nostalgic train journey. The train hugs the coast for a time with lovely views of the English Riviera before heading in to the lush Devon countryside, terminating at the estuary village of Kingswear which is opposite Dartmouth. A short ferry trip over and there is so much to enjoy in this delightful town. Home to the famous Naval College which stands guarding the town but with a maritime history which spans much further back in to history including links to Sir Francis Drake & The Pilgrim fathers. Explore the narrow streets lined with interesting shops, galleries, restaurants and pubs or you may like to take a boat trip along the river. Collected by coach from the quayside late afternoon.

DAY 3
Relax today with a day of leisure! Relax around the hotel, enjoy a morning coffee or lunch on the terrace or you may like to take the coastal path down to Meedfoot Beach or in to town. The nearest bus stop is not too far away if you want to explore further in the area or take a ride in to the main part of Torquay.

DAY 4
Another fantastic day today as we are joined by our excellent local guide who will explore the history and landscape of the dramatic Dartmoor National Park. This dramatic, ancient moorland has an abundance of rare birds, Neolithic  monuments and ancient woodland. We will learn of the connections between mankind and the traditions which have sculpted this unique region. Perhaps the most famous inhabitants are the rugged ponies who roam the park amongst the distinctive stone Tors. The region has been an inspiration for literary greats over the years - with the likes of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Agatha Christie finding inspiration for classics. We will also travel through and stop at some of the towns and villages which are dotted through the area. Lovely day out.

DAY 5
We have to travel home today. Stops as required including a main stop for lunch stop before arriving back in the local area around 3.30/4.30pm.

3* Headland Hotel

We have been taking groups to this hotel for many, many years and have always found the quality of decor, accommodation and food to be of a very good standard - it has become a firm favourite with Highcliffe Coach Holiday customers. And the standard and facilities keep improving with additions in recent years including a spa complex and wonderful outside decking area. All the public areas around the hotel are tastefully decorated with a complimentary chic modern style.

Professionally managed and with a great staff, the hotel has been awarded a Travellers' Choice 2023 Award - meaning they consistently earn great reviews from travellers and are ranked within the top 10% of properties on Tripadvisor for enjoyment and value for money.

Boasting splendid sea views from many of the bedrooms and some of the public areas, the hotel stands in two acres of grounds overlooking Meadfoot Bay – you can follow the footpath down to the bay or into Torquay. It’s quite steep in sections though!

Relax with a coffee in the elegant reception foyer area or head to the Gallery Lounge and Terrace - perfect place to enjoy the view, grab a drink, snack, or light lunch. If the sun is shining, why not sit out on the sea view terrace and enjoy the picturesque setting. Evening entertainment is on every night at the hotel, except Wednesday!

All bedrooms are well appointed and have en-suite bathroom – some with shower over bath, some shower only – TV, WiFi, Tea/coffee making and hairdryer.

Enjoy dining in the superb Romanoff Restaurant which offers a full hot & continental breakfast – self serve. In the evening, choose from a classic menu – 3 courses with a choice of menu served at the table. Set dining time for group. Passenger lift to most rooms – some corridors have a couple of split level steps. Porterage included.

PLEASE NOTE – After you put your card number and CVV Security Number in the payment section – you have to put your postcode in the box too.
