Wonderfully scenic tour to Ireland based in beautiful County Donegal in the north-west with time over in Northern Ireland itself for the spectacular scenery of the Causeway Coast.

If you haven’t been before, Ireland is a lovely country to discover – a real gem for the traveller. Magnificent scenery in every corner as the sea has sculpted this island over the millennia leaving beautiful beaches, rugged coastlines and a lush green countryside. The scenery is matched only by the friendliness of the people!

UK citizens visiting Ireland still enjoy free movement with the Common Travel Area so passports are not essential when travelling by sea. We do advise bringing some photo identification with you.

DAY 1
After being collected from your local pick up point around 7.30/9.00am, sit back and relax as we travel north to our overnight hotel – the BW Plus Samlesbury Hotel near Preston. 4* Quality modern hotel with excellent facilities for a comfortable stay. 3 course evening meal included with choice of menu and tea/coffee. Ensuite bathrooms are shower only. Porterage included.

DAY 2
After breakfast we continue north, passing the Lake District and in to Scotland. Lovely country to enjoy through Dumfries & Galloway before we arrive at the port of Cairnyan near Stranraer. We are booked on the 3.30pm ferry to Belfast - arriving at 5.45pm and on to the main hotel - the Inishowen Gateway Hotel in Buncrana in County Donegal. Arriving mid evening - 3 course evening meal with choice of menu.   


DAY 3
Enjoy an extensive hot & cold breakfast at the hotel before we head off for the day. Making our way along the stunning Causeway Coastal Route for a day to remember with wonderful coastal views, wide sand-duned beaches and coastal hamlets. To top the day we visit the phenomena - the Giants Causeway. These remarkable volcanic stone pillars, surrounded by accompanying folklore and legend are on the 'must-see' list for Ireland. We have included entrance to the Visitor Experience, use of audio-guides and the translink minibus to the stones. 


DAY 4
Departing the hotel after breakfast when we are joined by our local guide for a day exploring the Inishowen Peninsula. The breath-taking Inishowen Peninsula is one of Ireland’s finest and largest - surrounded by Lough Foyle, Lough Swilly and the Atlantic. Enjoy the views as we travel through this sweeping landscape including a visit to Malin Head at the top of Ireland. Onwards to the historic town of Derry. Our guide will take a walking tour of the city centre including the remarkable 400 year old city walls and the striking Peace Bridge. 


DAY 5
Another lovely excursion today as we tour in to beautiful County Donegal. With various during our time out enjoying the stunning Wild Atlantic Way with plenty of wide sandy beaches, remote countryside and rugged coastline. 


DAY 6
After breakfast we leave Inishowen and make the journey south to our overnight hotel in Wexford - close to the ferry port at Rosslare. Still plenty of scenery to enjoy along the way and with comfort stops and a main stop for lunch before arriving at the Maldron Hotel Wexford. Good quality, modern, comfortable overnight hotel with choice of menu for dinner. En suite bathrooms have shower over bath. Lift. Porterage included.


DAY 7
Early starter today with a breakfast before we board the 8.45am ferry, which arrives in Pembroke in West Wales at 12.45pm. We head back home to arrive in the local area around 7.30/8.30pm.

3* Inishowen Gateway Hotel

Wonderfully positioned for a holiday in County Donegal, this excellent hotel lies on the outskirts of the popular tourist town of Buncrana with spectacular views over the golf club to the ocean. For the energetic there are plenty of paths and trails to discover the town including the wonderful beaches.

With stunning views over Lough Swilly from the Peninsula Restaurant and the sensibly named, Loughview Bar, make the most of your free time around the hotel by enjoying a drink and soaking in the views! The hotel often also has live music in the evening. Plus all guests enjoy free entry to the impressive Gateway Health & Leisure Centre which boasts a 20 metre indoor swimming pool, Sauna, Jacuzzi, Steam Room and fully equipped gym. 

The elegant restaurant is located on the first floor and has an excellent reputation for quality - 3 course dinners with choice of menu an d in the morning set yourself up for the day with an extensive breakfast whilst enjoying those views over the water. 

In keeping with the rest of the public areas, the 80 well appointed bedrooms are decorated in a tasteful modern style - comfortable and functional. Fully equipped modern ensuite bathrooms - mostly with shower over bath - limited amount of shower only available. Room facilities include Multi Channel TV, Tea & Coffee making facilities, Complimentary WIFI, hairdryer - iron available on request. Superior bedrooms overlook the Lough Swilly and Buncrana golf course - subject to availability and extra cost.

Low level hotel - ground floor bedrooms are available plus passenger lift.
