Sometimes you overlook things right on your doorstep! Tourists come from all over the country to visit the Isle of Wight - it has a unique blend of coastline from stunning cliffs to beautiful beaches, whilst inland the countryside is a patchwork of farmland, woodland and heathland dotted with timeless villages. There is a diverse range of resorts for the visitor to explore and enjoy. For this special value break we are staying in the largest, Sandown. Sandown is a traditional British Seaside Resort with a wide sandy beach, long level promenade and pier.

For this great value holiday we are returning to the Burlington Hotel which includes some evening entertainment - great value and great fun!!

DAY 1
After being collected from your local pick up point around 8.30/10.00am we head for Southampton to board the ferry to East Cowes. Arriving on the island early afternoon we shall make a comfort stop on the way to the hotel in Sandown on the south-east of the island. Arriving in good time to relax and settle in before dinner. 3 courses with choice of menu.

DAY 2
Enjoy a full breakfast at the hotel before we head out for todays excursion. Heading west we arrive at the National Trust Mottistone Gardens which is set in a sheltered valley. Filled with shrubs, hidden pathways and colourful herbaceous borders, these tranquil gardens surround an ancient manor house (not open) and have a Mediterranean planting scheme to take advantage of the islands location. Sub-tropical plants surround the front lawn while an organic kitchen garden provides fresh produce for the tea garden. Lovely place to enjoy a morning coffee or tea with a slice of cake. Entrance fee included - NT Member discount - £8. From here we move on to Newport. The island's Capital has some lovely architecture, a long high street and plenty of eateries, pubs and cafes including some places to sit by the river.

DAY 3
Excellent day out today as we are joined by our excellent local tour guide for a day exploring the diverse countryside and coastline of this unique island. During the commentary, discover some of the fascinating history that has shaped the land and visit some of the towns and villages. Enjoyable day out.

DAY 4
After breakfast we depart for the short journey to the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary. The Sanctuary is set over 55 acres, has free entry with a gift shop and a cafe. Donations will be gratefully received for the upkeep of this excellent facility which gives a forever-home for over 100 donkeys. Returning to Sandown for free time - relax around the town and head for the seafront or why not hop on the bus and head along to adjacent Shanklin which has a charming old village section.

DAY 5
We leave the hotel in the morning and make a stop before we board the 12.30 ferry back to Southampton. Arriving back in the local area 2.15/3.15pm.
