Lincoln is a fantastic destination for a UK city break.

With plenty of historic buildings to discover, this lovely city offers the visitor many attractions. The skyline is dominated by the 950 year old cathedral – one of the most spectacular Gothic buildings in the world. This iconic landmark was the tallest building in the world for over 200 years and was built on an epic scale – a must-see whilst in the city. Just a few minutes walk away is the equally impressive Lincoln Castle. Built by William the Conqueror and home to the Magna Carta with so much to discover here - fantastic views over the city from the Medieval Wall Walk.

The city is split into distinct quarters – the historic Cathedral Quarter has cobbled streets and independent shops, the Cornhill Quarter is a vibrant hub in the centre for dining, shops and bars, the Cultural Quarter with theatres, museums and galleries and Brayford Waterfront with hotels, alfresco dining, bars and boat trips.

We have also included 2 excursions out of the city - one of the finest country estates in the country - the magnificent Burghley House and a hidden gem - Gainsborough Hall.

DAY 1
Collected from your local pick up point around 7.30/8.45m, we have comfort stops on route including a main stop for lunch before arriving at the hotel late afternoon. Time to settle into the hotel and take a stroll on the waterfront before dinner.

DAY 2
After an extensive buffet breakfast at the hotel we will be joined by our local guide for an orientation coach tour of the city centre. Great way to get your bearings - this will include a short walking tour of the Cathedral Quarter. And then you are free to do as you wish for the rest of the day!

DAY 3
Memorable day today as we head south out of the city to the majestic Burghley House & Gardens. One of the finest country estates in the entire country, Burghley is one of the largest and grandest houses of the Elizabethan age. Inside there are eighteen magnificent State Rooms, a huge collection of art including fine 17th century Italian paintings and an amazing collection of Japanese ceramics. The house is surrounded by Capability Brown parkland, wonderful gardens and a deer park. Entrance included in holiday price.

DAY 4
After breakfast we head out for a short excursion to the small town of Gainsborough and the excellent Gainsborough Old Hall. Described as a 'hidden gem' and one of the best preserved, timber-framed manor houses in the UK, dating back to the 15th century. The magnificent Great Hall links the East and West Ranges and there is also one of the best preserved examples of a late medieval kitchen in England. Famous visitors include Richard III & Henry VIII. Entrance included in the holiday price. Returning to the hotel for a free afternoon in Lincoln. 

DAY 5
We leave the hotel after breakfast and head home, stopping on route for lunch before arriving back in the local area around 4.00pm.

Superbly situated on the rejuvenated and stylish Brayford Wharf area in the centre of the city, the hotel is surrounded by a range of restaurants and bars along the waterfront - great for an evening stroll. We are very glad to be returning to this hotel. All the attractions of the city are within an easy 15 minute walk. The informal restaurant has splendid views over the marina and offers a superb hot buffet breakfast and 3 course evening meal with choice of menu. There is even a Starbucks Coffee House in the hotel! You can be assured of a high level of service from this highly rated hotel.
