Every year over 150,000 people flock to the beautiful banks of The Rhine for the country’s largest firework display. Situated at one of the most scenic spots along the Rhine, between Boppard and Klobenz this wonderful event sees the river valley bathed in fire – an amazing spectacle.

It’s not hard to see why river cruising has been and remains so very popular. It’s a great way to relax, enjoy the sounds and nature of the river and soak up beautiful scenery. As well as  countryside, you’ll pass through historic towns and cities along the way plus enjoy time on shore at various places of interest.

Following the success and popularity of this River Cruise in the past, in conjunction with Croisi Europe Cruises – one of the premium brands in the market, with have secured space on this cruise for 2024. Places are strictly limited with upgrades available. Modern cruise boats offer excellent quality accommodation and facilities.

Our itinerary, with a stop each way in an excellent quality hotel ensures relaxed travel days. 

DAY 1
After being collected from your local pick up point around 6.00/7.30am we travel to Folkestone for our lunchtime Eurotunnel to France. Travelling through the countryside to our overnight hotel stop in the north east region of France. Excellent quality 3/4* Hotel with all the comforts of a modern hotel. 3 course evening meal included. Details available nearer departure.

DAY 2
After breakfast we continue to the beautiful ancient city of Strasbourg on the border with Germany where we board the excellent MS Gerard Schmitter. After comfortably settling into your cabins, meet the crew at a welcome cocktail. After dinner on board we have included the optional visit to Strasbourg's Old Town by river boat (subject to availability). We'll start cruising in the night.

DAY 3

STRASBOURG - RUDESHEIM

We spend the morning cruising along one the most beautiful stretches of the romantic Rhine before arriving at Rüdesheim. We have included an excursion with a tour and commentary of the Rüdesheim vineyards by mini-train with breathtaking view of the Rhine, followed by a tasting! Afterwards, we visit a fascinating Museum of Mechanical Instruments before free time to stroll through the streets of Rüdesheim ambling down the famous Drosselgasse, before making your own way back to the boat. After dinner, relax or head back to the Drosselgasse with its numerous live bands and cafes.

DAY 4

RUDESHEIM - KOBLENZ - RHINE IN FLAMES

This morning will be spent cruising to Koblenz where we are taken for a tour of the old town by the ship's host or hostess. In the evening, we set sail for Trechtingshausen where a magical evening awaits with the unforgettable firework display over the River Rhine - the famous Rhine in Flames creates a spectacular and fairy-tale like atmosphere.

DAY 5

RÜDESHEIM - MANNHEIM

We'll spend the morning cruising towards Mannheim. Upon arrival, we have included an optional excursion to discover Heidelberg with views of the beautiful castle and a chance to walk through the lovely gardens. Includes free time to wander through the streets and shops before returning to the coach. Return on board. Tonight, is a special gala dinner evening. We'll sail to Strasbourg through the night.

DAY 6

STRASBOURG

Enjoy one last buffet breakfast on board before disembarking in Strasbourg at 9:00 a.m. We board the coach and head back to the north east of France  - once again staying in a 3/4* quality hotel – 3 course evening meal included.

DAY 7
We depart the hotel after breakfast and head for the Eurotunnel. Continuing home to arrive back in the local area around 4.00/5.00pm.

Due to the nature of river travel some excursion details may be adjusted or amended. If this occurs there will be no refund for these changes. Although all efforts will be made to run the itinerary as above - some changes may be made due to water levels.

4* MS Gerard Schmitter

Built in 2012 and named after the founder of Croisi Europe, the MS Gerard Schmitter is one of the premium ships in the fleet. Offering maximum comfort with its large common areas and two bar lounges. Not forgetting its large outdoor terrace where you can relax and take in all the beautiful scenery as you glide down the river. With 3 decks and at 110 m in length, the ship has 88 cabins spread over the levels and is bright and airy with a stylish interior décor. If you need any help, it is always on hand at the reception where there is also a gift shop. Relax on the large sundeck with plenty of seats to lay in the sun and enjoy a drink on the terrace or in the lounge bar. 

Food during your cruise is an absolute highlight; delicious refined French cuisine for your evening meals with choice, complemented by specially selected wines and an extensive self serve breakfast. All served in the beautiful restaurant.

All cabins have viewing windows with either twin or double beds, bathroom with shower, satellite TV, hairdryer, safety deposit box and air conditioning. Passenger lift.
