The Lake District’s truly ‘awesome’ scenery makes the region one of our most popular holiday destinations and one to which people return year after year. Unique in England, the area has a character and charm which has attracted visitors for many years and inspired poets, artists and writers for centuries.

This year we are returning to the charming town of Grange over Sands which is a delight to explore. With a long level promenade, public parks, interesting independent shops, superb views over Morecombe Bay and being only 6 miles from Lake Windermere, it’s a great destination for a tour of the Lake District.

For this years holiday we have tweaked the itinerary and added a few extras which we think will enhance the enjoyment of your holiday with us. A return trip on the renowned Ravenglass & Eskdale Steam Railway and a visit to Muncaster Castle is added to our full day touring the lakes with our excellent local guide plus, of course, a wonderful boat trip cruising on Lake Windermere.

DAY 1
After being collected from your local pick up point around 6.30/7.45am, sit back and relax with planned comfort stops including a main stop for lunch before arriving in Cumbria early evening.

DAY 2
Enjoy a full breakfast at the hotel before we head off for todays exciting excursion. We head for the Western Lake District where we board the popular Ravenglass & Eskdale Steam Railway for a stunning seven-mile journey from Ravenglass, the only coastal village in the UNESCO World Heritage site, The Lake District National Park. The line travels across the estuary, through the hills, past seven request stops, en route to the final destination, Dalegarth for Boot station - an amazing location with the Scafell Range, some of England's mountains within view. Time here to take a break, enjoy a hot drink and enjoy those wonderful views before boarding for the return journey. The train journey is around 40 minutes long.

From Ravenglass it is only a very short drive to the impressive Muncaster Castle & Gardens. In an idyllic setting amongst the Western Lake District fells, Muncaster offers an unforgettable experience. This, apparently haunted castle has sumptuous state rooms, beautiful furniture and artwork spanning the centuries of Pennington family occupation. The gardens are a particular highlight 77 acres of tranquil gardens with a blend of cultivated areas, lawns and woodland. The estate also has a Hawk & Owl Centre with daily flying displays taking place on the Meadow. Facilities include gift-shops and cafes. Excellent destination. Train & entrance to Castle included in the holiday price.

DAY 3
Memorable day out today as we are joined by our excellent local guide. Always a popular day covering the highlights of the region with a fascinating commentary on the local history, geology and famous people linked with the Lakes.

DAY 4
Lovely way to spend your last day in the beautiful Lake District as we head to Lake Windermere for a cruise on one of the excellent pleasure boats and free time remember those views before heading back to Grange for time to relax around the hotel lounges and grounds and stroll in to town. There is a range of shops and cafes plus a lovely park. Lake Cruise included in holiday cost.

DAY 5
We head home with comfort stops as required. Arriving back in the local area around 6.00pm.
