Kent has so much to offer the visitor. From magnificent castles and houses embedded in to the very heart of England’s history, to towns and cities which have influenced world events over the years - it is perhaps the county which has the most to offer in the whole of Britain. Too many options to choose from!!

This holiday enjoys a varied itinerary with visits to world famous cities, charming coastal towns and resorts, a visit to a hidden gem of a garden plus a wonderful trip on a heritage trainline. We pass through lovely countryside on route to our excursion destinations – Kent is known as the 'Garden of England' due to its success in producing food and drink, particularly fruit, hops and herbs, so look out for orchards, pointy-roofed oast houses and windmills.

DAY 1
Collected from your local pick up point around 8.00/9.15am, we have a lunch stop in the historic centre of Guildford before arriving at the hotel mid-afternoon. Settle in to the comfort of your room before dinner.

DAY 2
After breakfast we head for Canterbury. This historic destination is dominated by the magnificent Cathedral, the oldest in England, a UNESCO World Heritage Site which has played such an important part in world history as the base for the Anglican Church. But there is much more to Canterbury, with other ancient ruins such as the Castle and a lovely cobbled centre to explore on foot. Returning to the hotel late afternoon.

DAY 3
Another magical excursion today as we visit two gems of the National Trust. Enjoy a lovely breakfast before we board the coach and head for Scotney Castle. With the garden and estate at Scotney Castle covering more than 780 acres there is plenty to see, from the ruined 14th-century castle to the walled garden and Grade I listed parkland. There are wonderful views to take in as you explore this stunning site. For lunch, head to the tearoom for a selection of delicious offerings!! Afterwards we continue to Sissinghurst Castle Garden. One of the most celebrated gardens in the country if not the world. Climb the 78 steps to the top of the tower for a panoramic view of this enormous, 450 acre estate. Entrance fees included. NT Member discount - £20

DAY 4
Today's excursion is special as we head to the spectacular Dover Castle. The castle has stood as the gateway to the realm for nine centuries with the magnificent Great tower at the centre, created by King Henry II. Step inside this medieval palace, take a seat on the king’s throne, and meet characters from the court. On to the 20th Century and venture deep inside the Secret Wartime tunnels where you can witness ‘the miracle of Dunkirk’. A compelling visual tour guiding you through the tunnels where this incredible rescue operation was masterminded. The Underground Hospital is also not to be missed, where you can follow more action with the gripping story of an injured fighter pilot. Pass through the authentically recreated rooms where you can see, hear and smell the original hospital equipment used during World War II. Discover the UK’s oldest surviving lighthouse built by the Romans, the Anglo-Saxon church, or the WWI Fire Command Post. Entrance fee included.

DAY 5
We head home with a stop for lunch in historic Chichester. Arriving back to your local pick up point around 3/4.00pm.
