Widely regarding as one of the best destinations in the country – York really comes alive at Christmas.

Few cities rival the historic splendour of York and it is no wonder that it is one of our top selling destinations. Steeped in history spanning 2000 years, York is a compact walled riverside city home to world-class attractions. We stay within the medieval city walls allowing you time to explore the historic centre and its many attractions and cobbled streets. The city’s medieval centre adds an authenticity to the Dickensian vision of Christmas celebrations so come along and soak up the atmosphere. The hotel's brilliant position allows you to make the very most of your time away - just a few minutes walk is the bustling centre with excellent shopping and a huge variety of cafes, pubs and restaurants.

DAY 1
After being collected from your local pick up point (approx 7.15/8.45am) enjoy a comfortable journey on board our modern coach, with stops on route including a main stop for lunch. Arriving at the hotel late afternoon and settle in to your room or take a stroll before dinner. 3 courses with choice of menu included - followed by tea or coffee. Of course, the beauty of staying away in a central hotel is that you can enjoy the evening with no time restraints!! After dinner the hotel has laid on some entertainment!

Although the hotel is unable to offer Cabaret style entertainment there will be something on each evening including two live acts - a singer and a magician. Other activities will be along the lines of Festive quizzes. Full detailed itinerary will be available closer to departure. Obviously there is a host of other venues in the city, should you wish to go out. Given the amount of free time on offer, we feel this holiday will really appeal to those who like to explore independently and prefer a slightly quieter Christmas.

DAY 2
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the hotel before planning your day. The hotel location means you can easily explore and return. It's Christmas Eve so there will be an excited atmosphere around the city. Don’t miss The Shambles, perhaps the most picturesque street in England complete with overhanging timber-framed houses and traditional shopfronts. York Minster, one of the largest cathedrals in Northern Europe is also on the must do list plus there is the excellent Jorvik Viking Centre and National Railway Museum. (Worth checking opening times for attractions) Return to the hotel for dinner followed by entertainment as we look ahead to tomorrow.

DAY 3
The big day. Enjoy a leisurely buffet breakfast and then a walk along the river is probably in order. Returning to the hotel to prepare for a full traditional Christmas Lunch and a relaxing afternoon in the hotel. Tonight there will be a buffet in the restaurant followed by some entertainment.

DAY 4
In the morning board the coach as we head off for a scenic drive excursion to enjoy the winter landscape of Yorkshire and, weather dependent, have a stop in one of the towns with a chance to stretch the legs. Returning to the hotel with free time to relax before dinner.

DAY 5
After breakfast, sadly we have to say goodbye to the friendly staff, leave York and head home. Comfort stops taken on route including a main stop for lunch before returning to the local area around 4.00/5.00pm.
