If you fancy a very pre Christmas break join this special break away to The Moorland Hotel on Dartmoor National Park. Owned and operated by the same owners of the outstanding 4* Belgrave Sands Hotel in Torquay, the Moorland occupies a wonderful rural location. Set at the base of Haytor on Dartmoor, The Moorland Hotel boasts 11 acres of landscaped grounds, paddocks and woodland. Wild ponies are often found grazing nearby and the open expanse of the moor provides adventurous walking with breath taking views. Steeped in history, The Moorland Hotel saw Agatha Christie write her very first novel here whilst other famous faces include Ava Gardner, Robert Taylor and Mel Ferrer.

With 36 luxurious bedrooms the hotel is proud to detail it's AA grade of 4 stars and 1 Rosette within the Restaurants. DAY 1

After being collected from your local pick up point around 8.30am, we have refreshment stops as required before arriving at the hotel late afternoon. Settle in to your comfortable surroundings and enjoy the views before a delicious dinner. During our stay there will be live entertainment to enjoy!

DAY 2

In the morning we head for Plymouth where we are met by our excellent guide for a coach tour of the city and learn of the amazing maritime history. Free time after to explore – don’t miss the lovely waterfront area. Returning to the hotel mid afternoon to enjoy the surroundings. Don't forget a visit to the adjacent Tinpickle & Rhum Brasserie - find a cosy nook to enjoy the warming woodburner with a coffee or drink. 

DAY 3

Enjoy a full English breakfast overlooking the grounds before our excursion. We head to the charming town of Dartmouth, beautifully located on the River Dart. Site of the famous Naval College and dripping with history. Find a lovely place for lunch before we head back to the hotel for a final dinner. 

DAY 4

We head home this morning, with refreshment stops as required before arriving back in the local area around 3.00pm.

Since being taken over by the owners of the superb Belgrave Sands Hotel in Torquay, the hotel has undergone a multi million pound refurbishment bringing the same modern style and facilities. Beautifully located on Dartmoor, not far from the famous Hound Tor the hotel is set in 11 acres of landscaped gardens and woodland. For the energetic, you are literally on Dartmoor as soon as you step out - great for country walks with spectacular views. Great to know you’ll be returning to a comfortable, quality hotel.

The hotel has been awarded 4 stars by the AA with a rosette for it’s fine dining - there is a choice of menu with lovely views from the restaurant. The hotel also offers some evening entertainment. All the hotel bedrooms are comfortably furnished with modern en-suite bathrooms, TV, hair dryer, WiFi and tea/coffee making facilities. Lift to most rooms.
