Encircled by two miles of Roman and Medieval walls, Chester is one of England’s historical gems and has proved to be a very popular destination with our customers.

Situated on the River Dee, close to the Welsh border, Chester has 2000 years of history and is one of Britain’s Heritage Cities with a compact city centre easy to explore on foot. The itinerary for this holiday has always proved popular with our customer and for 2020 we have tweaked the days to add a little extra! This terrific holiday includes a full day in Chester, a lovely day round the charming town of Llangollen with a trip on the Heritage Railway and a boat trip on the Canal plus a visit to the rejuvenated and highly recommended waterfront area in Liverpool. Great fun!

DAY 1
After being collected from your local pick up point around 8.00am we have comfort stops as required before arriving at the hotel late afternoon. Settle into your room – 3 course dinner with choice of menu.

DAY 2
After breakfast we head into the centre of Chester where we meet our city guide for a coach tour. Learn about the amazing history of this town as we discover the sights of the city! Afterwards, find somewhere special for lunch before free time to explore.


DAY 3
Excellent excursion today as we are joined by a knowledgeable local guide for a tour of the city of Liverpool. Over recent years the city centre and waterfront have been transformed into a
stylish modern metropolis, whilst celebrating the cultural heritage which inspired the city’s achievements. We explore the city centre and waterfront including the Albert Dock, packed with attractions, stylish shops and cafes.  


DAY 4
Today we have a memorable day out in the charming Welsh town of Llangollen. Famous as the closest town to Thomas Telford’s engineering marvel, the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. We first board the Heritage Railway in the town for a nostalgic return trip along the River Dee Valley to Carrog Station. Afterwards, free time in Llangollen before we board the Horse Drawn Canal Boat at Llangollen Wharf for a 45 minute trip. After, we head on to the Trevor Basin - site of the famous aqueduct. Lovely day out. All trips included.


DAY 5
We head home with comfort stops before arriving back to your local drop off point around 5.00pm

Holiday Inn Chester South

This 3* Hotel offers comfortable and spacious accommodation and is situated on the southern edge of Chester allowing easy excursion opportunities and has recently undergone extensive refurbishment. You can relax in the lounge bar and enjoy a swim in the large swimming pool in the Spirit Health Club.

There are views of the Welsh Mountains from the restaurant where there is a choice of menu and a full English breakfast. All bedrooms have en suite bathrooms with Colour TV, phone, tea/coffee and hairdryer. No lift but all bedrooms on ground floor - restaurant on 1st floor.
