The beautiful scenery that lies between the River Severn and the Welsh border remains an enchanting hidden corner of Britain dominated by the rural heritage of the Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley, one of the country’s most scenic river landscapes. The itinerary includes some of the best sights in the region with visits to historic towns, a charming boat trip on the River Wye, wonderful scenery and much more.


Based in the centre of the Forest of Dean, this tour delves into the mystery, heritage and charm, that makes this region unique and a real joy to uncover. Plenty to enjoy so come along for a lovely holiday away with some of the best views in Britain.

 



DAY 1
After being collected from your local pick up point (approx. 9.00am), we have a lunch stop in Marlborough before arriving at the hotel mid afternoon. Time to relax before dinner – subject to minimum numbers there will be entertainment after dinner on some evenings during our stay.         



DAY 2
Today we shall be joined by our local guide for a tour of the Wye Valley including a visit to the beautiful ruins of Tintern Abbey on the banks of the Wye. Plus, one of the highlights of our holiday with a boat trip on the River Wye near the spectacular horseshoe bend stretch of Symonds YatEntrance + boat trip included.



DAY 3
Great day out today with a visit to the charming town of Ledbury – one of the most attractive ‘black & white’ towns in the country. Also today enjoy plenty of time in Hereford. This lovely city on the River Wye has a vibrant centre with a host of historic buildings including the magnificent Cathedral and plenty of pavement cafes and coffee shops.



DAY 4
Spectacular scenery awaits today as we are joined by our local guide for a tour of the Brecon Beacons. The historic Brecon Beacons National Park is a beautiful area of the country with a rolling green landscape, waterfalls, characterful towns and an amazing mountain skyline including the highest mountain in South Wales– Pen y Fan. Wonderful day out.



DAY 5
After breakfast we head for the lovely town of Bath for lunch. Returning back to the local area around 4.00/5.00pm.

Situated a short stroll in to the pleasant town of Coleford, The Bells Hotel offers the largest leisure complex in the Forest of Dean. The superb separate restaurant, bar and lounge is just a few yards away and serves a delicious hot buffet breakfast, and evening meal with choice of menu.

Leisure facilities are superb and include an 18 hole golf course (club hire available), county standard bowling green and short mat bowls. All bedrooms are comfortably furnished with en suite bathrooms, TV, tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer and telephone. Plenty of ground floor rooms available. During our stay there will be some evening entertainment – subject to minimum numbers.
