Blessed with a balmy climate and famous for its palm trees,
it's easy to see why Torquay has attracted visitors since Victorian times.
There is stunning scenery along the coast road and historic towns are dotted
throughout the region.
Torquay was the birthplace of Agatha Christie with many of
her novels drawing inspiration from the town and local landscape. The
traditional harbour and stylish Princess Pier marina area offer the town a
continental atmosphere, with a growing selection of eateries to sample. Stroll
along the attractive waterfront esplanade to the new Abbey Sands leisure
development and enjoy al fresco dining or a drink overlooking Torbay. It is
certainly worth exploring the newly refurbished Illuminated Royal Terrace
Gardens with wonderful views from the top.
