Widely regarding as one of the best destinations in the country – York really comes alive at Christmas.

Few cities rival the historic splendour of York and it is no wonder that it is one of our top selling destinations. Steeped in history spanning 2000 years, York is a compact walled riverside city home to world-class attractions. We stay within the medieval city walls allowing you time to explore the historic centre and its many attractions and cobbled streets. The city’s medieval centre adds an authenticity to the Dickensian vision of Christmas celebrations so come along and soak up the atmosphere. Meander through the market stalls of St Nicolas Fair with traditional chalets adorned with twinkling lights and selling all kinds of artisan gifts for the festive season. York is foody heaven, so follow the aromas of mulled wine and delicious tempting treats with a huge variety on offer. Full details of all the events will come out online later in the year.

DAY 1
After being collected from your local pick up point (approx 7.30/8.000am) we have comfort stops on route before arriving at the hotel late afternoon. Settle in to the hotel before your 3 course evening meal followed by tea or coffee.

DAYS 2 & 3
On your first morning we are joined by our local guide for a short walking tour of York city centre to learn about the remarkable history. It’s a great way to get your bearings and flag attractions you may want to return to later. The remainder of your time is free to explore, and there is much to see! Don’t miss The Shambles, perhaps the most picturesque street in England complete with overhanging timber-framed houses and traditional shopfronts. York Minster, one of the largest cathedrals in Northern Europe is also on the must do list plus there is the excellent Jorvik Viking Centre and National Railway Museum. After dinner in the hotel, walk over the bridge in to the city centre and enjoy all the festivities.
