Located in the heart of North East England, Durham City is a historic jewel at the heart of the region and the proud capital of County Durham. The city is looped by the River Wear which encircles the UNESCO World Heritage sites, Durham Cathedral and Castle. The county has many attractions including the award winning Beamish Museum which explores the mining & industrial heritage of the region. 

To the west, the Durham Dales is made up of Teesdale and Weardale and is a peaceful, rich and varied landscape of moors, hills and valleys dotted with picturesque villages and market towns. A marvellous destination for a lovely holiday.

Collected from your home around 7.30am we have refreshment stops as required before arriving at the hotel early evening.

After breakfast we head to Durham. Plenty of time to explore this Heritage city - Durham Cathedral is a breathtaking example of Romanesque architecture and one of the finest Norman buildings in the world. Durham has a lovely atmosphere with riverside walks and plenty of excellent shopping.

A superb day today as we are joined by our local guide for an enjoyable commentary as we travel through dramatic scenery. We head for the town of Barnard Castle and visit Bowes Museum (included). A remarkable French Chateau with a stunning collection of European art. From here we continue for a tour of the wonderful Durham Dales. A memorable day out.

Excursion to the award winning Beamish Living Museum. Experience a real sense of your past at Beamish, and discover what life was like in Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian times. (inc.)

Sadly we depart the hotel after breakfast and journey home with refreshment stops on route. Returning to the local area around 6.00pm - returned to your home by our service.

Set in 26 acres of parkland, Redworth Hall is a beautiful Jacobean Manor House with beautiful landscaped gardens. The many original features include the magnificent Great Hall, an ornate staircase, lounges and attractive bedrooms. Restaurant 1744 offers a seasonal brasserie menu in a relaxed atmosphere, and has been awarded an AA Rosette. Meals are 3 courses and offer 5 choices on 3 of the nights. On one of the evenings there will be a special Olde English style dinner in the Great Hall.  The hotel has an extensive health club with a large indoor swimming pool with stylish surroundings.
